Based in Wilston, Brisbane's inner north, Cocoon Communication provides paediatric speech pathology services for children experiencing communication difficulties. We support toddlers who are late to start talking, children with speech and language delays, autistic children, gestalt language processors, children with developmental delays and children with complex communication needs who may benefit from Alternative and Augmentative Communication (AAC).
We believe every child deserves a way to communicate. Our experienced speech pathologists carefully assess each child's strengths, learning style and communication needs to determine the most appropriate support. For some children this may involve developing spoken language, while for others it may include introducing AAC such as PODD, Key Word Sign or speech-generating devices alongside speech.
At Cocoon Communication we have extensive experience supporting children with complex communication needs and are passionate about providing evidence-based, family-centred intervention. We work closely with parents, carers, educators and support teams to ensure communication strategies are used consistently across everyday environments.
Once the most appropriate communication approach has been identified, we coach families and other communication partners so the child is immersed in meaningful communication opportunities throughout their day. Our goal is to build confidence, connection and independence, helping every child communicate in the way that works best for them.
Meet Victoria
Hi, I'm Victoria, the Founder and Director of Cocoon Communication.
I have been working with children with complex communication needs for over 20 years. Throughout my career, I have been passionate about helping children find their own way to communicate and supporting families to feel confident throughout that journey.
My clinical expertise includes supporting late talkers, autistic children, children with developmental delays and complex communication needs, and children who use or may benefit from Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC). I have a special interest in PODD, Key Word Sign and family-centred intervention that empowers children to become autonomous communicators.
At Cocoon Communication, we believe every child deserves a voice. We work in partnership with families, educators and other professionals to create meaningful communication opportunities that help children connect, participate and thrive.

Meet Liz
Liz is an experienced Speech Pathologist and proud mum of two.
With more than 15 years of experience, Liz has worked in both major paediatric hospitals and community settings, including many years at the Queensland Children's Hospital (QCH) and Mater Health. Throughout her career, she has supported children with speech sound disorders, hearing impairment, cleft palate, developmental delays and late language development.
Liz has a particular passion for helping late talkers and young children develop strong communication foundations. She combines her extensive clinical experience with a warm, family-centred approach, working closely with parents to create therapy that is practical, engaging and meaningful in everyday life.
Together, Victoria and Liz provide families with a wealth of experience across the full range of paediatric communication needs—from toddlers who are just beginning to talk through to children with complex communication needs who require specialised AAC support.
